ALLISON AKIN

FOUNDER

My name is Allison Akin. I’m from small-town Arkansas. My husband, Kenny and I have three grown children, one grandson, and three dogs. We are an officiating family. Kenny officiates baseball, softball, football, basketball & volleyball. I am a high school volleyball official and have officiated fastpitch softball at all levels from t-ball to college. I have been in every aspect of fastpitch softball, from parent, to coach to official to now tournament director.

In our spare time we still end up at the ballfield or the gym, even on vacation. It’s in our blood. We love to travel, spend time with our grandson and have lively rules discussions. But there is no place I would rather be than at the softball field.

KEITH DESHAZO

UIC

My name is Keith DeShazo, a.k.a. “Ball Magnet” and have been on the field since I was 5.  I drew my first official umpire check in 1980 for $3.00 per game…wow!  My experience has privileged me with calling the World Series, the World Fast Pitch Championships, numerous regionals and state tournaments, high school and I am NCAA sanctioned.  I do this for the kids and for training new “blues” as they break into the game.  Located out of NWA in Springdale, I have served on the board of the NWA Fast Pitch Umpires Association and am a standing member of the National Umpires Association.  Raising two D-1 candidate ball players, I have coached a lot of teams and watched players elevate their games to higher levels.  Married to my bride Dawn, who is a road warrior fan as well, my passion is the game and being part of these young peoples’ lives as they create memories over their years of play.  A bad day at the field is always better than a good day at the office.
